Job Description
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a tenured/tenure track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level with a focus on Neural Engineering . This search is part of the Health Engineering cluster hire at NYU Tandon, a strategic effort to invest in research and development of health-related technologies. The faculty and students of the Department of Biomedical Engineering focus on connecting engineering and technology with medicine. Therefore, many groups have a substantial translational component in their research. Strong connections with world-class faculty at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the College of Dentistry offer unparalleled opportunities for research across boundaries through interdisciplinary collaborations. The laboratories in the department create new approaches and tools for medical imaging, tissue engineering and repair, gene therapies and advanced drug delivery, bio instrumentation and biosensors, mechanobiology, robotics and prosthetics for rehabilitation, synthetic and systems engineering, neural engineering, and a wide variety of other applications. Areas of special interest include Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), Neural Implants and Neurostimulation, Neuroplasticity and Rehabilitation Engineering, Neuroprosthetics and Assistive Technologies, Neuroinformatics and Neural Data Analysis, and Neural Imaging. Exceptional candidates in closely related fields will also be considered. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline. We seek individuals who have or have the potential to develop a strong record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and an excellent funding record. In addition, the applicants should have demonstrated or have the potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring.
